We All Need a Reminder Sometimes

There are times we all have where all motivation to work flies right out the window, leaving us feeling uninspired and unmotivated. I’ve been experiencing a bit of that lately, especially over the last several weeks. I keep telling myself, as do friends and family, to make something…anything. Just sit down and create. So that’s what I did.

Sometimes I look through the designs available on Design Space to be inspired, see if something catches my eye, etc. But this time, I simply picked one. I wanted it to be simple so I could jazz it up with holographic vinyls like I usually tend to do. This one popped as not just simple, but a bit motivational for me.

I feel like this little decal may become a bit of a mantra for me for a little while. Just create.

Why I Create

I mentioned a few reasons before as motivation to continue to create. I love the opportunity to share knowledge with others, inspire, make pretty shiny things, and bring others joy. The biggest reason though is mental well-being.

When I first moved to California, I met a lovely cousin couple, Kathy and Mike, who would later become very dear to me. Upon our first meeting, Kathy asked what hobbies I have. I stumbled a bit, mentioning a hobby or two that I used to do but hadn’t in years. Truth be told, I didn’t have an answer. I put so much into my career before moving that I didn’t make time for myself. That is what crafting has done for me: making time for me.

No matter what I make, I find joy in being able to hold up something and say ‘I made this’ with pride. When first getting and using my Cricut, I thought I would end up making cards for every occasion and delve into paper crafts. But once I tried making a vinyl design, I was addicted! It’s been primarily vinyl projects ever since.
